General

There is usually only one forelimb lymph node, the axillary lymph node (Ln. axillaris). Occasionally, a second lymph node can be found, usually located on the lateral thoracic wall in the 3rd intercostal space, which, based on its drainage region, is simply an extension of the axillary lymph node (see axillary lymph node); therefore I have named this lymph node the accessory axillary lymph node (Ln. axillaris accessorius).
