Production day is finally here and hopefully all your careful planning has paid off. Whether you plan on a single day shoot or a multiple location production schedule the documents you prepared during your Development and Pre-production phases will be your bible moving forward and serve to keep everything and everybody on track and on schedule.

In this chapter we’ll give you the tips and tricks to make your production days a success and we’ll be learning about:

  • Camera Settings – setting up your camera for the best quality recordings and manageable files.
  • Camera Composition – composing a pleasing shot and the nomenclature to communicate clearly on set.
  • Lighting – techniques to vastly improve the quality of the video image and some tips and tricks to make things easy and affordable.
  • Audio – a critical component to get right, this section will help ensure you get the clear, quality audio you need.
  • Interviews – Some tips for conducting a great interview including camera and light setups as well as getting the most out of your interviewee.
