Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments for the Second Edition

We would like to thank our respective Departments for encouraging and supporting scholarly activity. We thank Ms. Brianne Cheng, WCVM 2018, who received financial support from the Interprovincial Summer Student Research Fund, to work on this project during the summer of 2016. We thank Dr. Juliane Deubner, Medical Illustrator, who revised and created new figures while adding color, which greatly enhances the “wow” factor for the reader. A special thanks to Mr. Tyler Moss, Administrative Assistant in the Department of Veterinary Pathology, WCVM, for preparing the Protocol Manual, an accompaniment to the e-book. Thank you to the Open Textbook Creation/Adaptation Fund at the University of Saskatchewan for providing a grant that allowed us to proceed with this edition and offer it free of charge to our students as well as anyone else with an interest in this subject. Such textbooks may be the way of the future and a means of keeping costs in check for those pursuing higher learning. We owe a great deal of thanks to Mr. Wayne Giesbrecht, Ms. Joanne Crawford, and co-workers at Media Production, University of Saskatchewan, for providing the support needed to create the e-textbook, including formatting the book, and providing the team needed to generate the linked YouTube videos. Many thanks to Dr. Angelica Galezowski for sharing digital images of cytology smears from a project that she completed as a graduate student in the Department of Veterinary Pathology, WCVM, and also from her current position as Veterinary Clinical Pathologist, Manitoba Agriculture, Veterinary Diagnostic Services, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Thank you to Ms. Kim Christiansen and Mrs. Gloria Patry, technologists with Prairie Diagnostic Services Inc. who worked with Media Production in generating the videos and who contributed to the Laboratory Manual and the Protocol Manual. We thank Dr. Sherry Myers, PDS, for countless hours spent updating and revising the Protocol Manual; all of the Department and PDS Clinical Pathologists are also recognized for ongoing feedback during the revision of the Protocol Manual. The cases used in the e-book and Laboratory Manual are from the archives of Prairie Diagnostic Services Inc. and we are grateful to have such a rich source of teaching material from samples submitted to this diagnostic laboratory. We express our gratitude to our colleagues from whom we learn through regular exchange and our students who inspire us to be the best teachers we can be. Finally, we would like to thank our families, two and four-legged, for supporting us with this project.
