6 Create a New Book
Once you have a Pressbooks account, your next step will be to create a new or add an existing book. You can choose if you’d like to start with an empty book or clone an existing book. Either way, you’ll need to contact your Pressbooks administrator to request the book.
Option 1: Start with an empty book
If you want to start with an empty book, your administrator will need the following information:
- Webbook address. Your webbook address cannot be changed later, so choose it carefully.
- Book title. This can be changed later if needed.
- Book language. “English (Canada)” is the default selection.
- Users. Are there other users you would like to add to the book? If so, the administrator will need their names and email addresses.
Your administrator may have additional questions, but this will be where you’ll need to start.
Option 2: Clone a copy of an existing book
If there is an openly licensed resource in Pressbooks that already exists that you want to customize for your own purposes, the easiest way to get a copy for yourself is to clone it to your Pressbooks account. For this, your administrator will need the same information as above, plus:
- URL. What’s the web address for the book you want to clone?
