Horizon School Division Video Project

Watch this video

In 2007, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education made treaty education mandatory in all schools in Saskatchewan. As part of the implementation process, the teachers and administrators in the Horizon School Division involved students in developing a video to reflect one of the main understandings of treaty relationships – this is that We Are All Treaty People. Not only did they engage First Nations communities and institutions in the development of the video, but the process they used truly reflected the spirit and intent of the treaty relationship. This two minute video reflects the power of education as we build a province based on understanding and respect.

Learning Activity

Reflect on the video. How do you as an educator support treaty teachings in your classroom?
