Step 1: Understanding Your Learners and Context

In this step of the course design process, you will analyze your learners and the context in which learning is taking place. Some questions you may ask are:

  • Who are the learners?
  • Where will the learning take place?
  • Where will the learning be applied as part of the course and beyond?

Step 1 will focus on learner and context analysis, which serves as the foundation for creating an effective learning experience. By understanding the demographics, prior knowledge, and learning styles of your learners, you can tailor your course content and activities to meet their needs and ensure engagement.

You will also be provided with information on Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity and Accessibility & Universal Design for Learning. The information provided will help ensure that your learners feel seen in your course, and that the choices you make during the design process are catered to all learners.
